As Thanksgiving 2023 approaches, we find ourselves surrounded by the warmth of family, friends, and the countless blessings life has bestowed upon us. This season, my heart is filled with gratitude for the simple yet profound joys - the steadfast support of dear friends, the gift of health following a challenging start to the year, and so thankful for my children and grandchildren. You are my treasures, and I love you deeply.
Living in a land of abundant opportunities, where freedom shapes our everyday choices - from careers to electing our representatives - is a privilege I hold dear. This year, we celebrated a significant victory with the passage of legislation to combat veteran suicides, a testament to our ability to make a difference. While not all our endeavors bore the fruits we hoped for, the journey itself has been a humbling and enriching experience.
Traveling the world as a Marine, witnessing poverty's grip, and observing the shackles of oppressive regimes, I've grown ever more thankful for the freedoms and liberties we enjoy as Americans. The freedom to express, to worship, and to live according to our beliefs is not a luxury everyone has. We must always remember this.
As Psalm 100:4 beautifully reminds us, "Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name." This verse echoes in my heart as we step into the holiday season.
I am immensely grateful for your friendship, support, and prayers. They are the pillars that sustain me.
In this season of giving thanks, let's extend kindness and understanding to one another. May your Thanksgiving be filled with joy, peace, and heartfelt gratitude.
Be good to one another,
Mike
