I recently had a few conversations with individuals that got heated. Yeah. Imagine that? An exchange of ideas that became a heated discussion. I wanted to give y’all a few tips in having a civil discourse of ideas.
1. The moment you lose your cool, and yes, I am trying to get you to… I WIN!
2. The moment you insert logical fallacies, I will destroy your argument. I WIN!
3. When you attempt to use circular reasoning to attempt to make your invalid point valid…. I WIN!
4. When you attempt to rehash the same dismal point over and over while trying to say it differently… I WIN!
5. When you cannot support your argument with verifiable facts and only emotion… I WIN!
You better know your subject matter!
DO YOUR RESEARCH!!!
Because I will and I do. I do not enter into any type of debate without being fully prepared.
If you don’t want to take my advice, it will be your own fault for allowing me to make you look like a fool. I can beat you in a debate by proving, by your own methodology, that Gandhi was more of a warmonger than Genghis Khan. Remember that.
Now, who wants to have a civil discourse of ideas?
