That One Place

Do you have one? I know you know what I am talking about. That one place where quiet is abundant. That one place where all seems right with life. Even for a few fleeting moments.

Now don’t get me wrong or misconstrue my meaning of the “place”. It doesn’t have to be a physical location at all. It’s where we can go and have the quiet and the peace in our souls.

For a long time for me I actually had two “places”. One was a physical location. There’s a little place between Islamorada and Lower Metacumbe Key. A small jetty where the fishing is just OK. But the waves come across the rocks and coral and the peacefulness of the ocean transforms you straight into a Jimmy Buffett song. It’s that place where you truly feel like a Conch. Only one other person in this world has been to that place with me. We spent a few days at my grandparents condo and I shared that place with her. Wow. That was a long time ago.

The other place for me is when I have the wind in my face. It doesn’t matter if it’s 110 or 30 degrees and wet. It’s the noise. The rumbling of an American V-twin underneath you as you twist the throttle and the bike and you become almost as one.

Those places have been mine. Never really shared with too many. Especially my Keys hideaway. But recently I’ve decided to share one with someone. Since I know I find that inner peace on the road, I wanted to share that with a friend of mine. We’ve talked about “that place”. But I can only describe the feeling to a certain point. Time to show it first hand.

Funny thing is that no one knows who she is except me. So don’t ask. This is me sharing my place. You’re not allowed in.

Have a nice day.
